Kamareddy city belongs to Nizamabad district of Telangana. It is located at a distance of 49 km away from the district Headquarters Nizamabad and 110 km away from the state capital Hyderabad. The city is called as the business hub of Nizamabad as it homes more than 300 textile business centers and numerous small scale agro-industrial units for producing sugar, jaggery, turmeric and many more.
 
People from multiple disciplines reside in Kamareddy and the mostly speak Telugu language. Kamareddy city holds a total population of 80315 within its boundary as per 2011 population census. The density of population in the city is recorded as 5692.1 people in an inch per sq km in an area of 14.11 sq km. The city is the second highest populated city in Nizamabad district and 15th highest populated cities in Telangana.

Geography of Kamareddy

Kamareddy city covers a total area of 14.11 sq km that is 5.45 sq mi. The city is elevated at a height of 495 meters above sea level which is about 1624 feet and it got its coordinates at 18.323° North latitude and 78.335° East longitude. The city is bounded by Tadwai Mandal in the west, Sadasivanagar Mandal in the North, Domakonda Mandal in the East and Bhiknur Mandal in the South.

The city is rich in its water source as two big lakes are sited on the southern border of the city and a water stream also flows on the south west of Kamareddy. Numerous ponds are located around the city. Summers are very hot and winters are cool in Kamareddy.

Areas and Localities in Kamareddy

The popular areas and localities in Kamareddy are Ashok Nagar, NGO’s Colony, Lachapet, Sailani Baba Colony, Devunipally, Padmajiwadi X Raod, Vidhya Nagar Colony and Dwaraka Nagar. The Ashok Nagar locality is sited in the north of the city and it homes major city landmarks like Kamareddy Railway Station, Executive Engineering Panchayat Raj Office, ASN Municipal Park, Priya movie hall and the famous Hanuman temple.

The NGO’s Colony sited in the west of the city homes few commercial and industrial hubs. The Devunipally locality in the south west end of Kamareddy is sited along the state highway SH 11 and it homes the famous Mallikarjuna Swami temple and the Devunipally bus stand.

The Dwaraka Nagar locality sited in the southern end of city homes the Kamareddy swimming pool and the famous Lord Ganesh temple. The Lachapet locality is sited on the south east of Kamareddy and it is sited along the state highway SH 11.

The municipal council forms the local governing body in the city with 33 ward members, 2 ex-officio members and 3 co-opted members. Kamareddy municipality consists of 17 notifies slums and 4835 BPL households within its jurisdiction.
